Campo Lameiro City Council Sometimes great natural treasures are located less than an hour from cities. This is the case of Campo Lameiro , a place also known as the capital of rock art in Galicia . The nickname is due to the number of petroglyphs found in its area, a distinctive feature that attracts a large number of visitors each year, although it is not the only one. In this Pontevedra town there are also viewpoints, trails and religious temples that complete its charm. Not to mention the quality of its gastronomy: it is almost impossible to eat badly in Galician lands. The Parque Arqueolóxico da Arte Rupestre de Campo Lameiro is, of course, its flagship. In fact, it contains one of the largest concentrations of these remains in Europe within its 20 hectares. Even those people who are not particularly interested in the subject will enjoy the visit because it is anything but boring. The complex is divided into three parts : the exhibition, the visitable archaeological area and the town. In the first you can learn how the petroglyphs of Galicia were made more than 4,000 years ago, in the Bronze Age .
Likewise, the most frequent scenes and representations are identified, their meaning is investigated and it even allows us to know how those who created them lived. The itinerary that takes visitors through the archaeological area is 3 kilometers long (there are fountains and rest areas). Among the different petroglyphs that can be seen are the following: Laxe da Forneiriña, Laxe dos Carballos, Outeiro dos Colombia Mobile Number List Cogoludos 1, Pena Furada and Laxe dos Cabalos. The drawings represent figures of animals, horses with riders or geometric shapes. The Bronze Age village reconstructs what towns were like 4,000 years ago, with its circular huts and thatched roofs, enclosures for animals and storage places. For its construction, the same materials were used as at that time, so that the representation was as reliable as possible. What else to see in Campo Lameiro Castro de Neixón Catsro de Naixón. By Lameiro Not everything is archeology in Campo Lameiro, of course.

There are also other places of interest such as the Mirador de Moraño , in O Campo (San Miguel). There, among oak groves, you can see herds of wild horses in freedom and on cloudless days you can see a panoramic view of the Arousa estuary. For both things you have to have a little luck because clear days are not the most common in Galicia and the animals do not come out when the visitors want, they work according to their own rhythms. To see this place in Pontevedra from above, you can climb to the top of Mount Agüeiros, where the Penalba fort is located. There is the famous A Pedra da Serpe , which is a considerable size rock on which you can see the engraved drawing of a snake. Nearby you can also visit the hermitage of San Antoniño de Penalba, which dates back to the 18th century AD (the fort is from the 9th century BC so you can almost say that it is a newly built temple). Outside of what is the Parque Arqueolóxico da Arte Rupestre you can also see some petroglyphs such as the well-known Laxe da Rotea do Mendo . On it there are drawn deer of different sizes and circular figures.
